Banned Dog Breeds Under the Animals and Birds Rules, certain dog breeds are not permitted to be kept as pet in Singapore, hence no import of such breeds is allowed. Listed below categories of dogs not allowed to be imported into Singapore (often referred as Schedule I Breeds): - Pit Bull, which includes the American Pit Bull Terrier (which is also known as the American Pit Bull and Pit Bull Terrier), American Staffordshire Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, American Bulldog, and crosses between them and other breeds
- Akita
- Neapolitan Mastiff
- Tosa
- Dogo Argentino
- Boerboe
- Fila Brasileiro
- Perro De Presa Canario (moved from Schedule II to Schedule I wef 15 November 2010)
- Crosses between all of the above and with all other breeds.
Updated November 2010 Below is a list of dogs that can be imported but must be fitted with muzzle when out in public place (Schedule II Breeds). Dog owner that failed to comply with this requirement will be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding S$5,000. Bull Terrier Doberman Pinscher German Shepherd with its related breeds such as Belgian Shepherd and East European Shepherd Rottweiler Mastiffs, including the Bull Mastiff, Cane Corso and Dougue De Bordeaux Crosses of 1 to 5.
Schedule II Breeds - Dogs must be leashed and securely muzzled when in a public place
- All existing and newly licensed dogs must be microchipped
- Newly licensed dogs must undergo obedience training
- Owner of newly licensed dog must take up an insurance policy for at least SGD$100,000 coverage against injury to persons and damage to property
- The owner of newly licensed dog must take up banker's guarantee of SGD$2,000
- Any existing banker's guarantee would be forfeited for non-compliance and the owner must take up a fresh banker's guarantee of SGD$2,000
