Dog Licensing Rules

Do take note of the following Dog Licensing and Control Rules and be a responsible pet owner, that all dogs:

  1. Over 3 months of age must be implanted with an ISO compliant microchip and be licensed.
  2. Must be leashed in public place.

Under the legislation, any person that failed to comply with these requirements shall be liable on conviction to a fine of up to a maximum of S$5,000.

The owner must always ensure the following:

  1. The dog licence is valid and to be renewed annually.
  2. The authority must be updated on any changes in ownership and/or residential address.
  3. Death or lost of dog must also be reported.
  4. Dog licence must be cancelled if you were to export your dog.

As of 1st Sept 2007, updated yearly fees for dog licence as below:

  1. Dog below 5-month of age - S$14.
  2. Sterilized - S$14.
  3. Non-sterilized - S$70.
  4. Fourth dog and above - S$175.
Note:

The dog-badge system had already been phased out, the authority is no longer issuing such badge for new dog licence applications.  As Singapore is gearing towards a more reliable way of pet dog identification, the current recommended practice is for dog to be implanted with microchip.  Please take note that microchipping is mandatory for all dogs imported into Singapore.
